This will be held on Sep 11th afternoon at KKH Auditorium from 2 to 5 PM and it will be open to all the nurses from the major hospitals in Singapore, including the Private Sector, & overseas nurses who register for the event. Dr Socorro De Leon-Mendoza, M.D.  Chairperson & President of Kangaroo Mother Care Foundation Phil., Inc. from Manila will be the main facilitator for the workshop, and she is one of the WHO Experts in this field.

The 3-hour workshop will be divided into 3 segments, with each segment preceded by a short lecture on:

​

1. Indications & Qualifications for initiation of KMC

​

​Skills Practice: Placing a baby (doll) in KMC position, ambulating while baby is on KMC, taking the baby out of KMC, breastfeeding during KMC and other methods of feeding while in KMC         

               

2. Monitoring the KMC dyad: 

​

​Skills Practice: Orientation and use of inpatient adaptation scale for objective assessment of mother and baby

 

3. Indications & Qualifications for discharge &/or discontinuation of KMC.

Discharge Protocols and KMC Transport: Practical indications and applications will be discussed
